Cell Tower Inspections Right From Your Office

Safety

When it comes to cell tower inspections, nothing is more important than safety. Towers can range from 50 ft to 200 feet high, making them dangerous to inspect. Each tower on average is inspected every 3 years for guyed towers and every 5 years for self-supporting structures. These are labor-intensive processes that require humans to climb up these incredibly tall towers. Over the past 9 years, nearly 100 tower climbers have died with more than half of those being people working on cell sites. Drones capture high-quality 4K footage allowing you to inspect towers from the ground, your office, and even form your own home. This decreased liability and makes the process easier, faster, and keeps people off towers where human error could cause fatalities.

Speed

Aerial drone inspections increase speed and productivity. Manually climbing towers is slow and takes time. Driving to the site, setting up the harnessing, verifying insurance is current, and climbing and inspecting the towers. All of these factors take time and can be slowed down by other factors such as temperature, wind, and other weather factors. Using a drone requires just a few steps, driving to the site, setting up the drone, and verifying all airspace authorization are granted and flying the tower. There are manual and automatic flight missions that can help automate the flight process and speed up the inspections and make them easily replicable. Once flown the data can be uploaded so that any member of your team can view them and your inspectors can view the tower from anywhere in the world. Another plus to using drones is that the data captured can be stored and access any time in the future, after every inspection, you can easily compare the condition of the tower to the previous inspection to see how things on the tower have changed.

Cost

One of the largest costs associated with cell tower inspections is the long time climbers spend on the towers. The more time they spend on towers, the more expensive your liability insurance costs. Using drones mean climbers are no longer climbing towers decreasing liability costs and decreasing time on inspections. This time saving decreases inspection costs and decreasing your operating costs increasing your profit.
